Strike and Dip turns your iPhone into a pocket transit. Take strike & dip measurements, bearings, plunge, and all that geological goodness, while simultaneously getting your latitude, longitude, and elevation. Choose between azimuth and quadrant formats for bearings, and three formats for coordinates. You can now choose between meters and feet, too.
To measure strike, hold the left edge against a dipping rock. Yellow triangles will show you how to tip your phone to level it. Once it’s level, the bearing will turn green, telling you have an accurate strike reading.
To measure dip, turn the phone up on its side, with an edge against the dipping rock, in the direction of dip. When you have the iPhone near vertical, the dip will turn green, telling you have a good dip measurement.
Strike and Dip will also find your GPS-based position and elevation. When you’ve got a good GPS fix, position and elevation turn green. Watch Strike and Dip in action.
